Toddlers

Toddler Mission Statement

Welcome to our toddler class, where socialization begins and the classroom setting is introduced. We provide a variety of activities to keep your inquisitive toddler happily occupied and stimulated. At a time when curiosity is at its peak, we strive to supply your child with an enriched environment and enhanced activities. We start our day with circle time, in which the basics of your child’s education are introduced and socialization and manners are emphasized. This class is designed to prepare your child for our Preschool program and to encourage positive behavior. Through individualized attention and encouragement, your toddler will receive a wonderful foundation with which to enter their academic career.
Each day includes breakfast, lunch, and snack and also consists of structured activities such as:

  • Circle time
  • Crafts
  • Story Time
  • Singing Time
  • Outdoor Time (weather permitting)

Special Activities

We also have special guests throughout the year from our Niagara Falls Aquarium, our Local Fire Department, and Dentist, along with holiday visits from Santa and the Easter Bunny.

Goals

Throughout their time in the toddler room, the children will be introduced to the following concepts. By the time they move up into the Preschool room, the children will show progress in or demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to verbalize and recognize the alphabet
  • Refine and develop fine motor skills (ex. manipulating small objects) and gross motor skills (ex. dancing, running)
  • Introduction to verbal and written name recognition and reiteration, beginning to respond to first and last name.
  • Introduction to counting and numeral recognition, and can count to at least five
  • Comprehension of difference in shape and color, and begins to recognize some basic colors and shapes
  • Exposure to daily repetition of the days of the week and months of the year
  • Introduction to basic concepts (ex. right and left) and spatial relationships (ex. up/down, under/over)
  • Recognition and ability to name different parts of the body
  • Increase in attention span
  • Introduction to different kinds of animals

The daily focus will reflect the monthly and weekly themes. Some examples of these themes are: My body, Space, Nursery Rhymes, Fire Safety, Flowers, and Insects.

Each day your child will be presented with an enriched educational and recreational schedule. Bunny Bunch Day Care provides a nurturing and meaningful environment that facilitates learning, social growth, and independence.

Activities that promote the learning of colors, shapes, numbers, and letters will be available for your toddler to share in. These activities will also help to develop and strengthen their fine and large motor skills.
